Pacific Soil Partnership
The Global Soil Partnership (GSP) was established by the FAO in December 2012 as a mechanism to develop a strong interactive partnership and enhanced collaboration and synergy of efforts between all stakeholders. From land users through to policy makers, one of the key objectives of the GSP is to improve the governance and promote sustainable management of soils.
The Pacific Soil Partnership (PaSP) is a regional partnership of the GSP hosted by the Pacific Community (SPC). Acknowledging that the region's soils are diverse and vulnerable, joint activities based on resource and information sharing are key to increase local food production and food quality, achieve climate change mitigation and adaptation, control land degradation and improve environmental management. In this framework, national needs and priorities are translated into regional actions through the PaSP implementation plan, which is under development and will be revised at the yearly PaSP plenary meetings.
